Americans love their space— big homes, big, spacious cars, and simply cavernous SUVs. But the desire to drive the biggest, most accommodating thing on the block need not mean a life stuck with single-digit fuel economy figures. In fact, if you know where to look, you can get a large hybrid with up to 30 combined mpg and space for the entire family.
Better yet, your next hybrid doesn’t have to trade a posh, opulent, tech-stuffed interior for that extra space. From Lexus and BMW SUVs to a long, luxe Mercedes-Benz sedan, any one of these 10 luxury hybrids will meld comfort and style with fuel efficiency and oh-so-American spaciousness.
Models are listed in descending order based on combined EPA-estimated fuel economy, from the most efficient to the least.
2026 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 30 MPG
Maybe Frank Sinatra was onto something when he sang about liking a new Lincoln. If the hybridized 2026 Lincoln Nautilus is any indication, Ol’ Blue Eyes had decent taste in luxury interiors. The Nautilus Hybrid boasts the swankiest cabin in the brand’s lineup, along with nearly 40 inches of headroom and over 43 inches of legroom, both ahead of and behind the front seats.
As for cargo volume, the Nautilus opens up to 35.2 cubic feet with the rear seats up and over 70 with the seats folded. You might be thinking that all the space within the Nautilus Hybrid would hit it where it hurts: right in its fuel economy figures. Surprisingly, that’s not the case. The EPA puts the midsize Lincoln SUV at 29 MPG city and 31 MPG highway, for a combined total of 30 MPG. Not too shabby.

2026 Lexus TX 550h+ PHEV
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 29 MPG
For 2026, you can have your Lexus TX in three flavors: ICE, traditional hybrid, and as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). All three offer seating for at least six, with three rows. And with generous headroom, shoulder room, and legroom, space isn’t exactly at a premium. That said, the third row, as with other luxury mid-size SUVs, isn’t exactly up to Grand Canyon standards. On the plus side, the cargo space in the TX 550h+ expands from 20 cubic feet to 57 or 97 with the second or third rows folded, respectively.
When it comes to efficiency, the Lexus TX 550h+ doesn’t compromise. According to EPA ratings, the Lexus PHEV is good for around 27 MPG on city streets and 28 MPG at highway speeds. If that wasn’t enough, Lexus says the TX 500h+ will cover up to 33 miles of electric-only range.

2026 Lexus TX 500h
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 27 MPG
That’s right; the Lexus TX makes the list twice. This time, though, it’s the traditional hybrid version of the 2026 Lexus TX. Like the PHEV model, the Lexus TX 500h provides ample interior space for up to six occupants. And when it’s time to haul groceries, luggage, or whatever, the TX 500h will oblige with 20 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the third row and nearly five times that much with both rows folded.
Even with a model name that conjures images of Texas, the Lexus TX 500h delivers family-sedan fuel-economy numbers. The EPA rates the TX 500h at 27 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. It won’t, however, cover the same 33-mile EV-only range that its PHEV sibling will. But with around 27 MPG combined, the conventional hybrid sips rather than swills.

The Most Comfortable SUVs For Long Road Trips In 2026
These select SUVs are built to make extended weekends as easy as possible.
2026 Volvo XC90 Hybrid
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 27 MPG
What conversation about sensible luxury vehicles would be complete without at least some mention of Volvo? And when it comes to spacious, efficient luxury SUVs, the XC90 Hybrid delivers. Inside the XC90 Hybrid T8’s effortlessly elegant interior, occupants will find seating for up to seven, though rear seaters won’t be quite as able to sprawl out as those in the second row. Still, with up to 97 cubic feet of cargo capacity with seats folded, the luxurious XC90 Hybrid doubles as a moving buddy.
The EPA rates the T8 plug-in hybrid variant of the 2026 Volvo XC90 at 58 MPGe after factoring in its 33 miles of electric-only range. As for standard fuel economy figures, official ratings put the Volvo XC90 Hybrid at 26 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway for a combined 27 MPG. Not bad for a 5,124-pound SUV.

2026 Mercedes-Benz S 580e 4MATIC
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 24 MPG
Granted, you’re not going to find the same cargo-friendliness in the 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class that you would in a mid-size SUV. What you will find, however, is ample interior passenger room and the sort of refined luxury that made the S-Class into a segment standard. What you lose in cargo space, you find in abundant headroom and legroom, regardless of where you sit.
For 2026, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is available as a plug-in hybrid. Opt for electric-only range, and Mercedes-Benz says the S 580e 4MATIC will cover up to 47 miles without dipping into its fuel reserves. As a result, the EPA rates the luxurious sedan at 63 MPGe. And once that battery runs flat, the 2026 Mercedes-Benz S 580e 4MATIC will still manage around 24 MPG.

2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450e
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 23 MPG
What? Another Mercedes-Benz? Yep. It’s the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450e, Stuttgart’s hybridized take on the GLE-Class SUV. While you won’t find a third row in the GLE 450e, you will find a spacious, posh interior with seating for up to five. Head to the rear of the Merc, and the GLE 450e opens up to a 31.5 cubic foot cargo space. Fold those rear seats, and the GLE 450e will stretch things out to 74.9 cubic feet.
Using features like regenerative braking and a 23.3-kWh battery pack, the hybrid 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE is good for an EPA-rated 50 miles of electric-only range. If that number wasn’t impressive enough, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450e beat that figure in testing with a 53-mile result. It’s more than enough for fuel-free journeys around town.

10 Most Overlooked Hybrids That You Should Consider Buying
These are some hybrids that really should be selling in higher numbers.
2026 BMW X5 xDrive50e
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 22 MPG
Who says your luxury SUV has to be boring? The surprisingly light-on-its-feet 2026 BMW X5 xDrive50e is quick enough to keep things exciting. On the inside, the X5 xDrive50e offers more headroom than a Volvo XC90 Hybrid without ditching its premium materials or stylish layout. That said, the hybridized BMW X5’s maximum cargo space isn’t quite as accommodating as it could be at 71.2 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
The EPA rates the hybrid version of the 2026 BMW X5 at 22 MPG city and 23 MPG highway for a combined total of 22 MPG. If you’d rather keep things all-electric, BMW says the X5 xDrive50e will cover up to 38 miles of EV-only driving. That electric-only range is better than the Lexus TX 550h+ PHEV and the Volvo XC90 Hybrid.

2026 Land Rover Range Rover P550e SE
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 21 MPG
When you think of Range Rover, you likely summon mental images of luxury SUVs parked alongside alabaster lions. You almost certainly think of an opulent interior adorned with wood and leather. The 2026 Land Rover Range Rover P550e SE lives up to those expectations, all the while providing loads of room for passengers. And should you want to take that quintessential hunting holiday, the P550e SE’s 40.7-cubic-foot cargo capacity behind the second row will handle things. Fold the rear seats for an additional 42.7 cubic feet.
For 2026, the Land Rover Range Rover is available as a plug-in hybrid with a 31.8-kWh battery pack. The EPA says the Range Rover P550e is good for 21 miles of electric-only range without dipping into its gas tank for help. However, once the battery runs flat, official estimates rate the P550e at 21 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway.

2026 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 20 MPG
People don’t typically mutter “Bentley” and “practical” in the same breath. However, if you can pull your gaze away from the quilted stitching and premium materials long enough, you might notice the Bentayga’s interior is quite usable. Passenger space is generous, as is the 62.6 cubic feet of maximum cargo space.
The sensibility continues when you weigh the 2026 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid against its ICE cousin. Fuel economy ratings put the Bentayga Hybrid at 19 MPG city and 23 MPG highway. That’s much less gluttonous than the V8-powered Bentayga’s 14 MPG city and 21 MPG on the highway. Paired with 28 miles of all-electric range, the Bentayga Hybrid is capable of 42 MPGe.

These 10 luxury SUVs may be stylish, but they lose their value at fast rates over 5 years – not great for new buyers, great for the used market buyers
2026 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid
Fuel Efficiency (Combined): 19 MPG
Just because it’s a Porsche doesn’t mean it has to be a tight-quarters proposition. Nor does it mean that a Porsche badge goes hand-in-hand with inefficiency. Take the 2026 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, for example. The Cayenne E-Hybrid will thrill up to five passengers at once with headroom and legroom to spare. Fold down the rear seats, and the Cayenne E-Hybrid offers up to 55.2 cubic feet of cargo volume.
The hybrid-electric 2026 Porsche Cayenne uses its E-Hybrid system and 21.8-kWh battery pack to cover up to 22 miles of electric-only range. As for EPA fuel economy ratings, the Cayenne E-Hybrid is good for around 18 MPG in the city and 20 MPG highway. Not too bad for an SUV with 463 horsepower at the base level.
