This midsize SUV can seat up to eight people, and owners often praise its comfortable seats and plenty of space in the second row, even for six-footers. Even the third row is spacious enough to hold full-grown adults on occasion. Its cargo space ranges from 21 cubic feet with the seats up to 97.5 cubic feet behind the first row, which is enough to rival a Sienna. All of this makes the Grand Highlander an ideal SUV for large families and road-trippers.

Owners report that the ride is also smooth and settled, and the SUV returns above-average fuel economy. The Grand Highlander starts at $46,660, though we’d recommend stepping up to the Hybrid Max powertrain, which should be adequate to move this large-ish SUV.

It’s the automaker’s largest SUV, which offers a go-anywhere personality while still offering third-row seating. Though compared to other three-row SUVs, the Sequoia’s interior space isn’t the best. The second and third row headroom is limited, especially with the panoramic roof, and the solid rear axle eats into the third-row space quite a bit. Similarly, the cargo space is only 12 cubic feet behind the third row, and the third row does not fold flat, either.

So, the Sequoia is more about its rugged capability than family-friendly comfort. The Sequoia is offered in a wide range of trims, ranging from too bland to premium, and higher trims add features like heated and cooled second row seats, a premium audio system, and a panoramic roof. It’s powered by a beefy 473-horsepower hybrid engine that returns an EPA-estimated fuel economy in the low 20 miles per gallon range. You can even opt for the four-wheel drive option on most trims.
