To put that into perspective, the 2026 Honda Civic Sedan has a price range of $24,695 to $32,396; the 2026 Corolla Sedan has a price range of $23,125 to $29,340, and the new Kia K4 sedan has a price range of $22,290 to $28,390.

Two Engine Options Give You Choice

Why The Mazda 3 Feels More Premium Than Its Price Suggests

The Mazda 3 Sedan’s biggest trick is making you wonder where Mazda cut corners in making it. At first glance, it feels like something that sits above the Civic, Corolla, and K4 in class, while still costing a similar amount. Instead of chasing the gimmicky stuff and loading the dashboard with flashy lighting effects, Mazda has done the Mazda thing and focused on putting in things that we will use every day.

Upscale Design Helps It Punch Above Its Class

Even the base 2.5 S avoids the cheap look that still plagues some other cheap compact sedans. The dash design is clear with soft-touch parts in key contact areas, while the level of fit-and-finish looks a lot better than the price suggests. You get an 8.8-inch center display in lower trims, and a larger 10.25-inch infotainment display in higher trims. You also still get a rotary dial to handle some of the infotainment controls, so it is not all just hunting through menus to turn the music up.

The Preferred trim adds an eight-way power driver’s seat with memory settings, while the Carbon Edition gets a distinctive red leather interior that makes it all feel a lot more classy than it should. The most expensive and most powerful Turbo Premium Plus model gets the most goodies, though, with leather-trimmed seating, a heated steering wheel, a HUD, and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio rig all included. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included in all trims; you can opt for Alexa Built-In; push-button start and remote keyless entry are equipped, and Mazda’s “Ideal Driving Position Philosophy” is adopted and makes for a very comfortable ride.

The whole interior design is minimal and designed for easy comfort; the dashboard wraps around you; the buttons and knobs don’t feel cheap when you push or twist them; everything is within easy reach; the Mazda Connect system is simple to use, and you get a decent amount of space for you and your passengers, with the following dimensions.

Mazda also said that there is 92.8 cubic feet of passenger volume inside models as standard, but if you opt for the moonroof, you get slightly less, at 91.4 cubic feet. The exterior design is also minimalistic and classy for its price point, with a long hood, short deck, flowing body lines, and a sleek finish. You get LED headlights as standard, a well-proportioned grille, an aggressive but still controlled-looking hood, unique exterior black accents for the Carbon Edition, and available 18-inch alloys.

Sharp Handling Makes Every Drive More Engaging

The new Mazda 3 Sedan is rated 77 out of 100 for driving experience on J.D. Power and 4.1 out of 5 for performance by owners on Kelley Blue Book. While these aren’t the most exciting ratings for performance, bear in mind this is a budget-priced compact sedan and not a sports car. That means you get a sedan that feels planted in the corners and more composed than it should when you want to change direction quickly, while still maintaining comfort and fluidity in everyday driving.

Then you have the electric power steering system, which carries more weight and feedback in your hand than most similarly-priced rivals, and Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus system and i-ACTIV AWD. All models are equipped with G-Vectoring Control Plus, which subtly adjusts engine torque during turn-in and applies minute braking on corner exit to give you stability and front-end grip.

The i-ACTIV AWD system also adds a bit more confidence in the drive as an optional extra for the Carbon Edition and standard fit on the turbo model. This predictive system constantly reads steering angle, throttle position, and road conditions to distribute torque where it is needed. The 2026 Mazda 3 Is Still One Of The Smartest Compact Sedans You Can Buy

However, where the Mazda 3 Sedan wins is in affordable luxury, available power, high rates of reliability, cheap running costs, and everyday usability.

The top-tier Turbo model has an exceptional output for its class and price if you run it on premium gas, and is more powerful and faster than the 2026 Civic Si, which gets a 200-horsepower turbo-four that gets it to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds. The interior and exterior design is well above its pay grade; you get a lot of standard features (like torque vectoring), which would be optional extras on other models, and it can still be used all the time.

The new Mazda 3 Sedan rides on a 107.4-inch wheelbase and has dimensions of 183.5 inches in length by 70.7 inches in width, and 56.9 inches in height. This makes it very handy to accompany the decent city mpg ratings for urban driving.
